Iain Duguid comes out swinging in The Whole Armor of God: How Christ’s Victory Strengthens Us for Spiritual Warfare. To illustrate, the first highlight I made in reading this book is actually on the very first page.
And he only goes deeper from there!
Writing about the armor of God is no easy task. I know because I’ve done it (and you can get my study guide here by the way). The challenge in the subject is that teachers either tend to go way overboard and sensationalize the material, or they do not take the matter of spiritual warfare seriously enough.
Iain M. Duguid is professor of Old Testament and dean of online learning at Westminster Theological Seminary. He strikes a masterful balance of scriptural accuracy and life application. And he does that in an engaging way that is easy to follow, digest and apply.

Christ Focused Spiritual Warfare
Duguid’s approach to Ephesians 6:10-20 is soundly focused on the work of Christ. That’s because yours and my best efforts to “be equipped” will never be sufficient. Every chapter in this book leads the reader back to the victory of Jesus Christ.
That’s important because it’s crucial that as followers of Christ we look only to our Savior to prepare, equip and strengthen us in this often painful and fallen world.
The writer focuses on all of the points of the Armor of God that you’ll find in Ephesians 6:10-20. He does so in a way that I found engaging and eye opening, yet easy to comprehend. That makes the Scripture applicable to your life today. And isn’t that the entire point of reading books like The Whole Armor of God?

Bible teachers, adult and youth leaders, pastors, moms, dads, new believers and mature followers of Christ will all benefit from reading The Whole Armor of God.
Most anyone would benefit from reading this book because life is messy, the world is fallen, and spiritual warfare is reality.
Duguid does an excellent work of pointing out all of the frightening parts of the unseen spiritual battles waging all around us while keeping us grounded in Scriptural truth and in the strength of Christ alone through it all.
Spiritual warfare is not an area that you should take too lightly, or follow incorrect teaching in. For this reason, I fully recommend Iain Duguid’s book, The Whole Armor of God: How Christ’s Victory Strengthens Us for Spiritual Warfare.

Iain M. Duguid (PhD, University of Cambridge) is professor of Old Testament and dean of online learning at Westminster Theological Seminary and the pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church in Glenside, Pennsylvania. He has also served as a missionary in Liberia, taught at Westminster Seminary California and Grove City College, and planted churches in Pennsylvania, California, and England.
